Creating Positive Online Communities

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

I am not that old, but I can remember when the internet first started becoming more mainstream. When having computers in the home was still (for most) uncommon.  I recall how we were introduced to a wondrous new tool, the world wide web, that would enrich our lives.  A tool so power it could connect the world and bring us closer together! The the internet is just that, a tool; a tool managed and fed by us the people.

Sadly though, there is a lot of unkindness expressed on the internet. Especially, on social media. Meaning we’ve found yet another way to share and spread denser, lower energies: fear, hatred, jealousy, anger, shame and blame. So last week, I was inspired and desired to create a safe, welcoming and companionable space online for people to meet and engage with one other – with authenticity, kindness and acceptance. An intentional space that is warm, welcoming and inclusive. A diverse space to respectfully express differing views, perspectives and opinions. A mindful space for openness, vulnerability and sharing. And a loving haven from much of the bullying, shaming and intolerance. So, that we might truly connect and raise the world’s vibration through raising our own.

Deliberately, I set and cast intentions for this Facebook community, Meeting People and Making Meaningful that it will be: a space for myself and others to grow, elevate and expand; a space for myself and others to learn, share knowledge and wisdoms; and a space for myself and others to connect and just BE. It’s a small group still, but it’s real and plays some little part in me “being the change”…at least for now 😉

Here’s to feeding the wolf that is light, Love, peace and ALL things serving our highest and best good! Will you join me?

Living Lighter, Brighter and FULLER lives ❤ !
